Last week I was awaken by the sound of the phone ringing at 1:15 am. It was my indignant twenty-one year old daughter. On her break at work in the student union at the college she attends. “Mom we have to pray hard for the people of Harrisburg!”
Drowsy I was trying to collect my thoughts – not fully grasping the depth of her concern. She got my attention as she told me that the Westboro Baptist Church was planning to show up in Harrisburg with their hate signs.
I Praise God for my passionate and intuitive children that wake me up in the middle of the night to help them pray about a burden God has placed on their heart.
Passionate prayer moves the heart of God!
A few days later Erin sent this letter by e-mail to the people of Westboro:
Prayerfully I write this letter;
To preach that God hates people is to call God a liar. God is truth, therefore He can not lie. That you have done is create your own God, an idol.We don’t get to pick and choose things out of the Bible to believe. You receive all, or reject all. Christian people are to hate the SIN and love the SINNER. If God had not loved us first where would we be?
Jesus, God in human form, while on earth loved the poor, the thief, prostitutes, the demon possessed ,and the money hungry, the list goes on….
He came to LOVE and CHANGE lives. No where in God’s Word does it say He hates any person! If you have a verse that supports your stand, please I would like for you to reply to this e-mail.
God is a gentlemen and allows everyone a choice. You have one thing right, God is just. However, He does not hate! One of two things can happen. He either removes His hand of protection and we are subject to the evils of the world, or He as any loving Father will discipline us, BUT HERE IS WHAT I THINK YOU MISS! My Father will disciple me, and it may hurt but He disciplines so that I may avoid further mistakes and heartache down the road. He ALWAYS has His children’s best interest at heart.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of true knowledge. But fools despise wisdom and knowledge. (Proverbs1:7)
My loving, just, and perfect God will not be mocked. Heed the warning.
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Rev. 22:18-19)
I have prayed over this letter , because I do not want it to be written out of my own flesh or anger. God is the ultimate judge.
Here is my prayer for you that I will continue to pray for you and yours.
Lord Jesus, I come with a heavy heart for the people of Westboro. Do they know the damage they are doing for your kingdom? Send your Holy Spirit to teach them your truth, soften their hearts and give them eyes to see and ears to hear. God I know that your Word tells us that it is not your desire for any man to perish. God I am asking for your good mercy to fall, they are lost and have been fooled. Father, I am asking that the power that raised Jesus from the dead, to block any outside voices so that they can hear you. I’m asking that you get their attention however you see fit. Lord, this is a hard thing to pray. I ask that if they have been turned over to a depraved mind, and continue in evil, by speaking curses and not life – may they be silenced or remove them.
Father, thank you for your living Word. Teach me and other followers of Jesus to pray for the people of Westboro. Thank you for proving your love to me time and time again. I ask all of these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.( Deut.7:9)
Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. (Romans 8:34)
People of Westboro! You give Christians and ultimately Christ a false name. God is love. He is a just God and He will not be mocked!……..I’M PRAYING FOR YOU. Let the Word of God speak for itself.

I thank you Erin for sharing with many.
We mock God and call Him a liar when we distort or twist His Word.
Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. 2 Timothy 1:13-14
To hold fast is a command to Timothy to persist in the sound words of healthy teaching. Many who say they speak for Christ proclaim false doctrines. Like Timothy , we need to pursue sound teaching and AVOID ALL TEACHING THAT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE SCRIPTURES, NO MATTER HOW CONVINCING CERTAIN TEACHERS MIGHT SOUND!
