There were keepers of the temple gates and keepers of the city gates. Nothing has changed! God still appoints gatekeepers and watchmen today!!

They are able to refuse or admit entrance to anyone. They are in place for the protection of the temple or the city. The Bible mentions gates quite often. Matthew 7:13-14 says “…wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction… straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life…” In Matthew 16:18, Jesus tells us that the gates of hell shall not prevail against His Church. Psalm 100:4 says “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise…” So we see that heaven has gates and hell has gates.

Gates and wall are built for protection. When one was said to possess the gate of his enemy, it meant that the person had gained a position of authority or power over the enemy. When the gates and the walls are torn down or broken down, it gave access for the enemy to come in.

The watchmen have been blowing the horn until their heads are spinning. The problem lays with the gate keepers, they are either asleep, bind or dead. The doors have been left unattended.

This nation is paying a very high price for our lack of concern for what we allow in the gates of our schools, churches, homes and minds.

False teachers and false teachings! We have become focused on pleasing the people for the sake of “peace”, money, recognition, and a whole list of other things!

So is it any wonder WHY we suffer loss?!!!!

Wake up gatekeepers!!!!!

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. – James 1:12

People do not know what they are getting when they are in a great place of temptation. Temptation endured brings the “crown of life.”

There is nothing outside of purity except what is sin. All unbelief is sin. God wants you to have a pure, active faith so that you will be living in an advanced place of believing God all the time, and so that you will be on the mountaintop and singing when others are crying.

I want to speak now about lust. I am not speaking about the base things, the carnal desires. I am not speaking so much about adultery or fornication, and such things, but I am speaking about what has turned you aside to some other thing instead of God.

God has been offering you better things all the time, and you have missed them.

There are three things in life, and I noticed that many people are satisfied with just one of them. There is blessing in  justification, there is blessing in sanctification, and there is blessing in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a wonderful thing, and we know it. Sanctification is a process that takes us on to higher levels with God. Salvation, sanctification, and the fullness of the Spirit are processes.

Many people are satisfied with “good” – that is, with salvation. Other people are satisfied with “better” – a sanctified life, purified by God. Still other people are satisfied with “best” – the fullness of God with revelation from on high. I am not satisfied with any of the three. I am only satisfied with “best with improvement”.

So I come to you not with good, but better; not with better, but best; not with best, but best with improvement – going on with God.

Why?

Because “when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is fully-grown, brings forth death”(James 1:15)

When anything has taken me from God, it means death in some way.

When Jesus said to the disciples, “The Son of Man will be put into the hands of sinners and crucified,” Peter rebuked Him ( see Mt. 16:21-22), but Jesus said, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”(verse 23)

Anything that hinders me from denying myself and taking up my cross(v.24) is of the Devil; anything that hinders me from being separated unto God is of the Devil, anything that hinders me from being purified every day is carnal, and it is death.

So I implore you today to make certain that there is no lustful thing in you that would rob you of the glory. Then God will take you to the very summit of the blessing where you can be increased day by day into all His fullness.

Thought for today: Do not neglect the Word of God. Take time to think about the Word of God; it is the only place of safety.

“Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of the age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?”  Paul The Apostle

Just take a walk through a news stand or turn on the evening news.

Beheadings, a murdered judge, child porn, homemade meth, teen pregnancy, 40 years of killing our young in the womb, school shootings, gay marriage, depression, husbands killing their wives, wives killing husbands, children killing parents, divorce, sodomy, rape, child molestation, bestiality, a “no rules” restaurant, bloodiest of all centuries………….and on and on….

Where is wisdom?

The real war raging in the world is a culture war!  Government schools and (many private) from Pre-K rooms to Senior Care and every institution in between – the war is raging for the minds of  the children and adults alike.

The school classrooms and in the Sunday School rooms of many churches ramming  garbage down the throats of children and adults daily.

We see the fruit of this world’s wisdom all around us.

Secular Humanism, Marxism-Leninism, Cosmic Humanism ( New Age), Post-Modernism,….. just to name a few.

Let’s take a closer look  in just  three areas.

Ethics,  Sociology, and History.

Secular Humanism: Ethics : (Moral Relativism) The belief that no absolute moral code exist and therefore man determines what is right in each situation according to his private judgement.  Sociology:  Non- traditional family, Church, State. History:  Historical Evolution.

Marxism-Leninism: Ethics: ( Proletariat Morality) the Marxist ethical belief that whatever advances the Proletariat and the cause of Communism is morally good and whatever hinders Proletariat or Communism is morally evil. Sociology: Classless Society. History: Historical Materialism.

Cosmic Humanism ( New Age)  Ethics: (Moral Relativism) ie Karma. Sociology: Non-traditional family, Church, State. History: Evolutionary Godhood (Intelligent Design).

Post-Modernism: Ethics: (Cultural Relativism) The belief that truth and morals are relative to (or defined by) one’s culture. Sociology: Sexual Egalitarianism – The belief that all sexual practices — which are based on preference and sexual identity (or polymorphous   History: Historicism – The belief that past beliefs, morals, and truths should only be understood in relation to the cultural/historical periods in which they arose, not according to any eternal standard of morality and truth.

Is it any wonder why many young people today have NO HOPE?

C.S. Lewis said:  That Christians “are tempted to make unnecessary concessions to those outside the Faith.” We give in too much, he says. “We must show our Christian colours, if we are to be true to Jesus Christ. We can’t remain silent and concede everything away.” ( C.S. Lewis , God in the Dock)

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:5-8

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,  being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. Look at what is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we. For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed.

Our hope is found in the person of Jesus Christ and His blood shed on the cross for our sins. We are a fallen creation and Jesus is the Redemption and the only answer to our fallen world. His Word is absolute TRUTH!

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.  For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.  1 Cor. 1:20-25

*Note to parents: It is way past time to find out what your children are being taught in school, at youth group and in Sunday School. It is not just the State teaching them falsely –  it is the Church in some cases!

The post below entitled “More Time” is a great post by: Kevin Griggs

I share it because I hear so many people today in a “What’s the big deal” frame of mind. The prophets have been crying out repent and turn back to God in this nation. The watchmen have warned the city gatekeepers to guard the gates. Yet we continue to allow evil to infiltrate every level of society.

We refuse to hear for lazy – selfish motives and lack of real authentic concern for God’s Word.

Time is up for sitting down! Get up saints of the Most High God and make a difference in the world around you. This can only be done in Christ with His Power and authority.

A true relationship with Christ will change the way you live and will powerfully influence the others around you  …. in radical ways! Stop thinking that you have more time!

More Time

Daily Bible Reading – Ezekiel 12-14; Revelation 5

Today’s Key Passage – Ezekiel 12:21-28

I am not a morning person.  Each morning, I typically have to set two alarms – one for the time I actually want to get up, and one for fifteen to thirty minutes beforehand to give myself a warning that it is almost time to get up.  No matter what time I set my alarms for at night, when they go off in the morning I always have the same thought as I say to myself, “I thought I had more time.”

The Israelites in today’s key passage also thought they had more time.  The listened to all of the prophets telling them about God’s judgment, and they wrongly assumed that the prophets were talking about events that would happen in the distant future. (Vs. 27)  They even had their own proverb that was popular at the time – “The days go by and every vision comes to nothing.” (Vs. 22)  What they did not realize was that God’s judgment was closer than they thought.  In fact, in less than six years, Jerusalem would be completely destroyed.  They failed to listen to the warnings because they all thought they had more time.

Many people today still react to God’s warnings in the same way as the Israelites.  They know the message of the Bible.  They know that they need to repent of their sins and follow God.  They know they need to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.  The problem is that they believe they have more time.  They think God’s final judgment will happen sometime in the distant future.  In fact, they may be right.  They may live a long life and they may still have plenty of time to turn to Him.  On the other hand, they might be wrong.  We will never know when our time on this earth will be done.  Jesus may come back or He may call us home tomorrow, or we may be here for another 100 years.  Do not fall into the trap of thinking you have more time.  If you have unconfessed sin in your life, repent today.  If you have been waiting to start a personal relationship with Christ, turn to Him today.  If you have been waiting for the right time to reach out to that unbelieving friend in love, do it today.  When the alarm clock of life finally goes off, we do not want to be caught off guard thinking we had more time.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

I love the way God’s Word paints pictures to illustrate spiritual truths.

Like a “tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream.”

Not bothered by persecution or times of trouble. Remaining steadfast and unchanged. Continuing to glorify the Lord in word and in deed. Producing spiritual fruit.

Living life in the Spirit!

Living in the Spirit means our faith is continually being freshen by the water of life…moment by moment and day by day until our confidence and trust in God are so obvious that even total strangers will notice and comment on them.

Even in the midst of some very dire predictions and depressing news Jeremiah is able to throw in a little parable of life and hope.

God’s Spirit the third person of the Trinity is described in the Bible in several ways…. as oil, wind, fire ,and water, to mention a few. However, the symbol of water to illustrate the person and work of the Holy Spirit is the picture Jeremiah is panting for us in ch 17.

I have been parched and dry, having drank from broken springs of water that did not satisfy me.

Jesus tells the woman at the well...”If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” Jn 4:10.

The woman had been drinking from the river of her relationships…….Jesus offered her a spiritual experience that would quench her thirst – a relationship with the living God.

A little while later Christ uses the picture of water again. In the midst of a ritual where priests carried in large vats of water and poured it out, Jesus  stands and in a loud voice says; ” whoever believes in me as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow within him.”Jn 7:38-39

Another picture of water in the Bible is that of the river of life…Ezekiel describes the fruit trees that line the banks and the river of life flowing from the throne of God.

As I went back, I saw on the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other. And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea. But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt. And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.” Ez 47:7-12

This is the same river Jeremiah had in mind in ch. 17 and the same river the apostle John saw in his vision.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Rev.22:1-2

The source of the river is God Himself. Ezekiel observed that everything that touched the river lived and wherever the river flowed there was life.

Look at verses 7 & 8 in ch 17 of Jeremiah once again….

We do not produce the fruit of the spirit. We must allow God to produce that fruit in our life. The tree was planted by the river but, it had to “send out its roots into the stream.”

We choose daily…. Where will we send out our roots?…… Will we drink from the living water?

How many times have you made a mistake and then confess it to the Lord in REPENTANCE but, continue to punish yourself with guilt and condemnation?

Psalm 103:8-12 Reminds us of the Lords mercy. And His power to remove our transgressions as far as the east is from the west.

Mistakes will happen! Don’t dwell there too long! We must do as the apostle Paul and immediately shake it off! Do not sinfully worry and allow guilt to grow. When we confess with  a sincere heart, God removes the sin.

Don’t allow your mistakes to so worry or condemn you that you can’t be helpful to others around you even when they ignore your words or wrong you….. The poison of stress and worry will harm us if we allow it to penetrate our hearts and minds. Follow Paul’s example and shake it off.

Paul shipwrecked on Malta

After we were brought safely through, we then learned that the island was called Malta.  The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold. When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. When the native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.” He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

Now in the neighborhood of that place where lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days. It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him healed him. And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured. They also honored us greatly and when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed. (Acts 28:1-10)

Though Paul had to face difficult circumstances yet on this journey to Rome God gave him favor in the eyes of men.  “When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.”  Prov 16:7
