Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. – James 1:12

People do not know what they are getting when they are in a great place of temptation. Temptation endured brings the “crown of life.”

There is nothing outside of purity except what is sin. All unbelief is sin. God wants you to have a pure, active faith so that you will be living in an advanced place of believing God all the time, and so that you will be on the mountaintop and singing when others are crying.

I want to speak now about lust. I am not speaking about the base things, the carnal desires. I am not speaking so much about adultery or fornication, and such things, but I am speaking about what has turned you aside to some other thing instead of God.

God has been offering you better things all the time, and you have missed them.

There are three things in life, and I noticed that many people are satisfied with just one of them. There is blessing in  justification, there is blessing in sanctification, and there is blessing in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a wonderful thing, and we know it. Sanctification is a process that takes us on to higher levels with God. Salvation, sanctification, and the fullness of the Spirit are processes.

Many people are satisfied with “good” – that is, with salvation. Other people are satisfied with “better” – a sanctified life, purified by God. Still other people are satisfied with “best” – the fullness of God with revelation from on high. I am not satisfied with any of the three. I am only satisfied with “best with improvement”.

So I come to you not with good, but better; not with better, but best; not with best, but best with improvement – going on with God.

Why?

Because “when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is fully-grown, brings forth death”(James 1:15)

When anything has taken me from God, it means death in some way.

When Jesus said to the disciples, “The Son of Man will be put into the hands of sinners and crucified,” Peter rebuked Him ( see Mt. 16:21-22), but Jesus said, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”(verse 23)

Anything that hinders me from denying myself and taking up my cross(v.24) is of the Devil; anything that hinders me from being separated unto God is of the Devil, anything that hinders me from being purified every day is carnal, and it is death.

So I implore you today to make certain that there is no lustful thing in you that would rob you of the glory. Then God will take you to the very summit of the blessing where you can be increased day by day into all His fullness.

Thought for today: Do not neglect the Word of God. Take time to think about the Word of God; it is the only place of safety.

“Where is the philosopher? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of the age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?”  Paul The Apostle

Just take a walk through a news stand or turn on the evening news.

Beheadings, a murdered judge, child porn, homemade meth, teen pregnancy, 40 years of killing our young in the womb, school shootings, gay marriage, depression, husbands killing their wives, wives killing husbands, children killing parents, divorce, sodomy, rape, child molestation, bestiality, a “no rules” restaurant, bloodiest of all centuries………….and on and on….

Where is wisdom?

The real war raging in the world is a culture war!  Government schools and (many private) from Pre-K rooms to Senior Care and every institution in between – the war is raging for the minds of  the children and adults alike.

The school classrooms and in the Sunday School rooms of many churches ramming  garbage down the throats of children and adults daily.

We see the fruit of this world’s wisdom all around us.

Secular Humanism, Marxism-Leninism, Cosmic Humanism ( New Age), Post-Modernism,….. just to name a few.

Let’s take a closer look  in just  three areas.

Ethics,  Sociology, and History.

Secular Humanism: Ethics : (Moral Relativism) The belief that no absolute moral code exist and therefore man determines what is right in each situation according to his private judgement.  Sociology:  Non- traditional family, Church, State. History:  Historical Evolution.

Marxism-Leninism: Ethics: ( Proletariat Morality) the Marxist ethical belief that whatever advances the Proletariat and the cause of Communism is morally good and whatever hinders Proletariat or Communism is morally evil. Sociology: Classless Society. History: Historical Materialism.

Cosmic Humanism ( New Age)  Ethics: (Moral Relativism) ie Karma. Sociology: Non-traditional family, Church, State. History: Evolutionary Godhood (Intelligent Design).

Post-Modernism: Ethics: (Cultural Relativism) The belief that truth and morals are relative to (or defined by) one’s culture. Sociology: Sexual Egalitarianism – The belief that all sexual practices — which are based on preference and sexual identity (or polymorphous   History: Historicism – The belief that past beliefs, morals, and truths should only be understood in relation to the cultural/historical periods in which they arose, not according to any eternal standard of morality and truth.

Is it any wonder why many young people today have NO HOPE?

C.S. Lewis said:  That Christians “are tempted to make unnecessary concessions to those outside the Faith.” We give in too much, he says. “We must show our Christian colours, if we are to be true to Jesus Christ. We can’t remain silent and concede everything away.” ( C.S. Lewis , God in the Dock)

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 10:5-8

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,  being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. Look at what is before your eyes. If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him remind himself that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we. For even if I boast a little too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I will not be ashamed.

Our hope is found in the person of Jesus Christ and His blood shed on the cross for our sins. We are a fallen creation and Jesus is the Redemption and the only answer to our fallen world. His Word is absolute TRUTH!

Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.  For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.  1 Cor. 1:20-25

*Note to parents: It is way past time to find out what your children are being taught in school, at youth group and in Sunday School. It is not just the State teaching them falsely –  it is the Church in some cases!

Antinomianism – Reposted

Antinomianism

Antinomianism (a term coined by Martin Luther, from the Greek [ Against + Law ] is defined as holding that under the gospel dispensation of grace, moral law is of no use or obligation because faith alone is necessary to salvation.

Calvin, Luther, and Wesley called it heresy.

In Paul of Tarsus day the Biblical Greek terms anomia or anomos which are generally translated ” lawlessness” and ” lawless”.

This dangerous heresy is still alive and operating  in the church today. We give this demon new names such as religious toleration, post modernism, political correctness, sensitivity, and compromise.

Our children are inundated with antinomianism all day every day by the media,  the music, television, magazines, clothing, at school, and at church.

I remember when my youngest child was in the first grade and he wanted to wear shirts with “funny”  phrases on them – from the children clothing brand – No Rules. The so-called  ”funny” phrases boldly and unashamed undermine the authority of parents, teachers, pastors, government officials, policemen, and every authority to which God has placed over children to teach them and keep them safe. They actually belittled and poked fun at all authority, which we know belongs to God.

I was ridiculed  with eye rolls and told by other mom’s that it was no big deal! It was a big deal then and it’s even a bigger deal now!

Sadly, I know several of those mother’s that are now seeing the fruit of planting the seed of  NO RULES in their children. It is truly heartbreaking to see the harmful effects of  lawlessness.

As the church we are called to intercede for this generation. It is our responsibility to speak life and truth – to teach the children that a life with No Rules will lead them down a dangerous path ending  in death.

The marvelous news is Our Heavenly Father loves every person past, present and future so much He offered up His only begotten son that we may know forgiveness, true lasting peace and joy that glorifies and honors Him.

By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.  If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I

have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.

John 15:8-11

Our Heavenly Father loves us so very much that He offered up His Son on the cross. Jesus paid a very high price that we may be forgiven.

We must not forget foundational principles in God’s Word.  Genesis 4

Storing the Oil – Reposted

“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
Our attitude toward weddings can hardly compare with those of the first – century world. Modern day weddings have to compete with all other celebrations not to mention all the entertainment we flood our lives with. In the ancient world all was put aside for a wedding. The bride, groom, and guest were excused from their duties, and even the Rabbi would leave his study of the law to be apart of the celebration.
Imagine, how the crowd sat up and took note when Jesus said ” Let me tell you about a wedding.”  He would have had their full attention.
There were ten that went out with their lamps to meet the bridegroom. The listeners of the parable would have been very familiar with symbols of  faith. All the young women had a proper invitation to the event. Five were wise and five were foolish.

What was the distinguishing marks? All ten had lights but, only the five wise took oil jars alone with their lamps. Not knowing the exact time of the grooms coming.
Weddings in the ancient Middle Eastern world and for that matter the current practices in many Middle Eastern Villages is customary that the bridegroom arrive at a time of his choosing and can conceivably stretch over days of expectation. However he is obligated to send out a messenger running ahead, shouting to the people, ” The bridegroom is coming! The bridegroom is coming!”

We do not know how long the ten waited, but we know it was long enough they were falling asleep when the cry rang out. When they heard the cry the five foolish discovered their error and their lamps were going out and they had no extra supply of oil. They appealed to their more conservative friends, who answered, “No… there may not be enough for both us and you, Instead go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourself.

And you know the rest of the parable.

Seem harsh to you? Ask the author of the parable what He means.
Having an adequate supply of oil – that is, the Spirit of God in our lives- it is not a game and it’s not something we take lightly.
This is a tragic story Christ told and we don’t like tragedies. And keep in mind how Jesus described the five  foolish. He did not say they were bad or unwelcome, because the truth was they were invited. He said they were foolish, they did not take to heart the warnings and opportunity that were surely theirs.
We must store the oil while there is still time! Read His Word and allow His Spirit to fill us to over flowing.

The post below entitled “More Time” is a great post by: Kevin Griggs

I share it because I hear so many people today in a “What’s the big deal” frame of mind. The prophets have been crying out repent and turn back to God in this nation. The watchmen have warned the city gatekeepers to guard the gates. Yet we continue to allow evil to infiltrate every level of society.

We refuse to hear for lazy – selfish motives and lack of real authentic concern for God’s Word.

Time is up for sitting down! Get up saints of the Most High God and make a difference in the world around you. This can only be done in Christ with His Power and authority.

A true relationship with Christ will change the way you live and will powerfully influence the others around you  …. in radical ways! Stop thinking that you have more time!

More Time

by Kevin Griggs

Daily Bible Reading – Ezekiel 12-14; Revelation 5

Today’s Key Passage – Ezekiel 12:21-28

I am not a morning person.  Each morning, I typically have to set two alarms – one for the time I actually want to get up, and one for fifteen to thirty minutes beforehand to give myself a warning that it is almost time to get up.  No matter what time I set my alarms for at night, when they go off in the morning I always have the same thought as I say to myself, “I thought I had more time.”

The Israelites in today’s key passage also thought they had more time.  The listened to all of the prophets telling them about God’s judgment, and they wrongly assumed that the prophets were talking about events that would happen in the distant future. (Vs. 27)  They even had their own proverb that was popular at the time – “The days go by and every vision comes to nothing.” (Vs. 22)  What they did not realize was that God’s judgment was closer than they thought.  In fact, in less than six years, Jerusalem would be completely destroyed.  They failed to listen to the warnings because they all thought they had more time.

Many people today still react to God’s warnings in the same way as the Israelites.  They know the message of the Bible.  They know that they need to repent of their sins and follow God.  They know they need to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior.  The problem is that they believe they have more time.  They think God’s final judgment will happen sometime in the distant future.  In fact, they may be right.  They may live a long life and they may still have plenty of time to turn to Him.  On the other hand, they might be wrong.  We will never know when our time on this earth will be done.  Jesus may come back or He may call us home tomorrow, or we may be here for another 100 years.  Do not fall into the trap of thinking you have more time.  If you have unconfessed sin in your life, repent today.  If you have been waiting to start a personal relationship with Christ, turn to Him today.  If you have been waiting for the right time to reach out to that unbelieving friend in love, do it today.  When the alarm clock of life finally goes off, we do not want to be caught off guard thinking we had more time.
